LoothemUp

Every cannon changes what your ammo does. Every run changes your ship. And at every portal, you choose: the loot or one more node.

Basically you fly, your ship fires on its own. At the end of each fight you pick a card (a cannon, an ammo, a satellite, a part) and a portal to the next node. You pick up gems along the way, but they're only yours if you take the exit portal. If you die, you lose almost everything.

What it looks like

Screenshots are on the way. Until then, each slot says what it will show rather than displaying an image that isn't the game.

A fight: the ship fires on its own, everything else is you moving.
End of a node: each portal tells you where it leads, the skull means harder and better paid.
The card to pick after the fight, cannon or ammo, that's where the combo happens.
The extraction portal: you take it, the run ends and all your loot is yours.
The end of a run, what you kept and what you left behind.
A boss: it soaks, you dodge.

What you do

Fly

Your ship fires on its own, so everything happens in the movement: you dodge, you position yourself, you pick your targets by moving. You don't manage the shooting, just staying alive.

Choose your route

At the end of each fight, portals open at the edges of the screen and each one tells you where it leads (fight, elite, rest, treasure). You fly into the one you want, no menu, no map screen: you pilot your decision.

Build your ship

After each fight you pick a card: cannon, ammo, satellite or part. A Fan cannon with Lead ammo sprays wide and hits hard. The same Fan with a homing ammo is another game entirely. Every combo is something you find out by playing. At the end of the run you start over from zero.

Leave in time

Every extra node is richer than the last one. And more dangerous too. The extraction portal shows up regularly to let you leave with everything you carry. If you push on and die, you lose almost everything. Up to you how far you go.

Why it's still grey cubes

The game is ugly and it's on purpose. I build it alone and as long as I don't know whether you feel like launching another run, I won't spend an hour on a texture. Basically I check that the loop is good before spending months making it pretty, because a beautiful boring game is still boring.

So you're holding the game without its makeup. If you want another run, it worked.

Is the game spying on me?

No. What it does do is send me, on every launch, the log of your previous runs: numbers and item names, how long each fight lasted, what killed you, where you stopped. It helps me balance across several players instead of just my own runs.

There's no name, no address kept, no identifier that follows you from one day to the next. You can switch it off in the Options (I won't even know you did). The leaderboard, on the other hand, makes the nickname you choose public. The field-by-field detail is onthe itch page.

The demo is free, on Windows. It still moves a lot, so this is when your opinion counts the most. If something breaks or bores you, tell me on the Discord, that's exactly what I'm looking for.
